There is a new printer/copier in room 3309.  If you set the previous one
up on your own computer, you should update the driver.  One way to do
that is to remove the old printer entry and create a new one.

Printer hostname: ricoh-3309.physics.wisc.edu (no change)

New printer model: Ricoh IM 5000

New driver:

Hello MSPQC Students:

I'm writing with one update and on request.


  1.  Apologies for the late request, but I'm seeking 1-2 volunteers who might be available to join me for a virtual open house for prospective students.  Here are the details:
Tomorrow, Tues. Oct. 10 @ 10-11am - all online - marketed to all PhD and MSPQC prospective students who have either started an application or somehow been in touch with us.  I would like to have 1-2 students in attendance to respond to potential student experience questions.


  1.  From now on, facilities will be emptying the waste bin in the MSPQC workspace every day.  This means, please no longer put the waste bin in the hall when it is full-because they are checking it more frequently, they will plan to enter the room each evening to empty the bin.

Thank you and please let me know if you're interested and able to attend the open house on Zoom tomorrow morning.

Please welcome Sarah Parker to the department as the quantum science outreach program manager. Sarah has a BS in physics from UW?Stevens Point and an MS in physics from the University of Missouri. She?ll be mostly involved with HQAN outreach and education, so she?ll be working with many of the quantum-focused faculty and students on campus. She?ll be doing some general physics outreach for the department as well.
