New Resource Website for Grad Students

Good Morning Grad Students, I hope this email finds you well! Over the past few weeks I've been compiling some relevant and helpful resources in an easy to find place on the Physics website. Spring 2020 Grading Option: MSPQC Program

Dear MSPQC Grad Students & MSPQC Program Committee, We are writing today to follow up on the email shared below and provide the utmost clarity on how this Spring 2020 disruptive grading option impacts the requirements for Physics grad students. At the end of Spring 2020, grades will be reported by faculty as usual and then students may choose to have their letter grade (A-F) converted to one of the two new grades that have been created: SD (Satisfactory-Disruption) or UD (Unsatisfactory-Disruption). The University has set the conversion of scale for grades of B or above to be converted to SD and grades of BC or lower to be converted to UD. Students will be informed of the specific process if they wish to convert their grades and this option will only be available between May 9th and May 22nd, 2020. -If a student elects to convert their earned letter grade (B or above) to a grade of SD (Satisfactory-Disruption) for Spring 2020, this WILL count towards their total degree credits, G50% credits, and WILL satisfy the MSPQC degree requirements. -If a student elects to convert their earned letter grade (BC or lower) to a grade of UD (Unsatisfactory-Disruption) grade for Spring 2020, this WILL NOT count towards their total degree credits, G50% credits, and WILL NOT satisfy MSPQC degree requirements. -A grade of SD or UD will NOT impact the GPA in any way, positively or negatively. -Additional FAQ can be found on the Office of the Registrar's webpage. https://registrar.wisc.edu/spring-2020-disruptive-grading/ Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions along the way. Summer 2020 Online

Good Morning MSPQC Students, I'm writing to share the details that you may have seen from the Chancellor last night regarding Summer 2020 being moved to online only. We are working on options for the required MSPQC course, Physics 707, and will keep you posted on what that might look like for a lab course. But for now, we wanted to be sure you heard the news that Summer 2020 is online. Thanks to those of you who have already signed up for the course. We are committed to offering this required course as we know this is the last semester for many of you. We are looking forward to offering this course and know that many of you are too!
