Hello MSPQC Students!
Thank you to those of you who completed our scheduling Doodle poll! I am writing to announce that the first session of our 2021 MSPQC Career Development Series will take place on Friday, May 7th, from 11 AM to 11:30 AM. You will be able to join this session at the following link:
https://uwmadison.zoom.us/j/96468461493?from=addon
All subsequent sessions of this series will take place on Tuesdays from 12 to 1 PM (please see attached syllabus for details). Due to the interactive nature of these sessions, they will not be recorded (with the exception of our first meeting on May 7th, which will be recorded and uploaded to the Canvas site). Powerpoints, resources, and other documents, however, will be made available to you after each session on our Canvas website.
Speaking of which - you all have been added to the MSPQC Career Development Canvas website<https://canvas.wisc.edu/enroll/NPBM6P>. When searching the "Modules" tab, you will find course documentation, Powerpoints, resources, etc. from each session. I will go into further detail about the Canvas site on May 7th.
If you happen to miss one of our sessions and the content uploaded to Canvas does not suffice for your preparation, I would be happy to meet with you individually or in small groups throughout the Summer to briefly cover what you missed.
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions! Good luck on your finals, have a great weekend, and we look forward to seeing you next week!
Thank you!

Hello MSPQC Students!
Happy Thursday! I’m writing to let you know that UHS is opening up vaccine appointments through the weekend, with pop-up clinics this Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nicholas Recreation Center. Thousands more appointments will be available next week. Students should schedule an appointment today at go.wisc.edu/myuhs<https://myuhs.uhs.wisc.edu/login_dualauthentication.aspx>. Questions about vaccines? Visit https://covidresponse.wisc.edu/covid-19-vaccine-information/#vaccine-eligib…
The American College Health Association urges students to get their first dose as soon as possible, even if they will be at another location for their second dose. Many retail pharmacies and mass vaccination sites are now able to accommodate people who require only a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, and those sites that do not currently may be more accommodating as vaccine supply increases. UHS will also be able to provide second doses to students.

Hello MSPQC Students!
The Spring 2021 schedule of classes is NOW available at https://enroll.wisc.edu/search?term=1216&subject=754.
As a reminder, Spring 2021 enrollment begins next week on Monday, April 5th, so I'm writing to you to provide you important details about registering for courses.
The Graduate School policy on enrollment requirements indicates that 4 credits are needed for full time status (https://grad.wisc.edu/documents/enrollment-requirements/).
Our Summer Semester officially begins on June 14th, 2021 (Session code DHH: https://registrar.wisc.edu/sessiondates-2/).
According to the dates and deadlines found on the Office of the Registrar's website, the last day to enroll without departmental approval is June 18th, 2021.
Most of you will likely be enrolling in Physics 707 and Physics 799. Please follow the steps below:
Before you enroll:
Please connect with your faculty advisor and discuss the courses you wish to take. Then, complete your Course Plan at (https://app.physics.wisc.edu/gradvise/course-plan/) and obtain approval from your advisor. This step will help us guarantee that you will be on track to graduate.

Go to Course Search & Enroll enroll.wisc.edu
Two options for enrollment:

2.) Please make the following selections on Course Search & Enroll homepage and search:
Term: "Summer 2021"
Subject: "Physics"
Seats:"Closed"
Click on course Physics 707, click "See Sections" and add 707 to your cart. Proceed to cart and complete steps for enrollment. 707 will appear closed, but an enrollment permission is setup for all MSPQC students, which will you to add the course PHY 707 to your cart and complete enrollment.
Physics 799:
For those of you who need to enroll in Physics 799, please email me with details of who you will be working with (and CC that faculty member on the email) and I will respond to you with directions on how to enroll in that section.
Graduation Plans:
Finally, please let me know if you will not be graduating this Summer and will be enrolling in courses for Fall 2021.
As always, please don't hesitate to contact me through Microsoft Teams (chat or video) or email me with any questions that you might have along the way. I know this can be complicated and there is a lot going on right now. I'm here to assist you!
