Subject: Competion: Falling Walls Lab in Wisconsin
Falling Walls Lab<https://falling-walls.com/lab/> is coming to Wisconsin! The Falling Walls Foundation is inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989 and the dawn of a new era of freedom. Which wall will your research break? Pitch your innovative idea, showcasing a breakthrough that creates a positive impact on science and society.
This competition is open to students and early-career professionals in any discipline (see full eligibility criteria<https://falling-walls.com/lab/eligibility-criteria/>). Anyone interested must first submit an application<https://falling-walls.com/lab/apply/wisconsin/> by July 15, 2023. Approximately 15 applicants will be selected to pitch their idea in under 3 minutes at Falling Walls Wisconsin, which will be held Tuesday, September 5 from 4-7pm in Chamberlin Hall on the UW–Madison campus. The winner of Falling Walls Wisconsin earns a trip to Berlin, Germany, to present at the Falling Walls Science Summit, held November 7-8, 2023.
Please see the Falling Walls Wisconsin website<https://falling-walls.com/lab/apply/wisconsin/> and the attached poster for more information. Questions? Please direct them to Sarah Perdue, saperdue(a)wisc.edu<mailto:saperdue@wisc.edu>
Sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Graduate School, College of Letters & Science, and the Department of Physics. Falling Walls will cover the Falling Walls Wisconsin winner’s hotel accommodation in Berlin for November 7-8 and entrance to the Falling Walls Science Summit; UW–Madison sponsorship will cover an economy flight to Berlin, up to four extra nights in a hotel in Berlin, and a per diem.
