Please Consider Being a Physics Tutor for Fall 2024

Hello Physics Graduate Students: Please take a moment to fill out the tutor sign up form for the Physics Department website: https://app.physics.wisc.edu/tutor-signup/. The form requires authentication with a UW NetID. The Physics Department maintains/posts this list on the website<https://www.physics.wisc.edu/undergraduate/student-resources/#tutoring>. However, we consider this private tutoring/instruction. This list is available so students who need additional tutoring/instruction beyond the support of their faculty member or TA may reach out to you individually and you are free to set and request your own fees. MSPQC Graduation Ceremony Friday, August 11: Attire, Parking Info, and More!

Hello Graduating MSPQC Students: I'm sending out a little more information for the graduation event next Friday evening, August 11 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Please read this full email. Cap and Gown Pick Up: I picked up the cap and gown rental order today and they will be available for you to pick up at 2320 Chamberlin Hall between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM next week, Monday - Friday, August 11. If I am out of the office, please see Leigh at the front desk for your apparel (she is copied on this email). If you are not available to pick up your cap and gown at that time, you may get them beginning at 4:30 PM at the check-in table outside of the Deluca Forum Room in the Discovery Building on Friday, August 11 **At the time of gown pick up, I will also ask you to confirm the phonetic pronunciation of your preferred name for the presentation of the graduates portion of the ceremony. Event Details 2023 MSPQC Graduation Ceremony Date: Friday, August 11 Time: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Location: Discovery Building, Deluca Forum Room (main floor) 330 N Orchard St, Madison, WI 53715 **Please check in with Elizabeth Hart-Baldridge upon arrival at the event (if you are a graduating student participating in the ceremony) *Refreshments available @ 6:30 PM (Catered by Steenbock's on Orchard) Program/Agenda [5:00 PM CHECK-IN 5:30 PM WELCOME Kevin Black, Associate Chair for Graduate Programs COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS Deniz Yavuz, MSPQC Program Director PRESENTATION OF THE GRADUATES Elizabeth Hart, MSPQC Program Manager 6:30 PM RECEPTION] Presentation of Graduates: During the procession of graduates, your research or faculty advisor will say something about you. You will go up to the "stage" or front of the Forum Room and they will present you with your diploma holder. If you want to say a few words at that time, you're welcome and encouraged to. If you would like me to share with you the responses you submitted on your RSVP survey, I'm happy to share them as you prepare for the ceremony tomorrow. When you walk off the "stage," you will have the opportunity to get a formal graduation photo taken (the MSPQC program is providing a photographer for this event). Attire * Business casual is fine for underneath your cap and gown. [cid:image001.png@01D8AD89.5882EDD0] Parking There are some lots on campus that allow visitor parking after a certain time. Some lots may also have a fee for visitors to park (depending on what time your guests arrive). The closest lot is probably University Ave. Parking Garage-right across the street from the discover building and Subway. If you are unable to take your gift with you at the event-they're a bit large-you can just let me know and I'm happy to store your gift in my office until you can arrange pick up sometime the following week (Aug. 14-18).
