Hello MSPQC Students:
I hope you are enjoying your spring break! I am emailing a friendly reminder that Summer 2024 enrollment begins on April 1 and Fall 2024 enrollment begins on April 8, 2024.
It is a good idea to meet with your faculty advisor or myself if you have questions about which courses to enroll in during the upcoming summer and fall semesters.
If you plan to enroll in PHYS 799: Independent study/research (or for internship credit), it is important that you complete the attached research approval form with a signature from the faculty member who is overseeing your research experience. Once I have this completed and signed form, I can enter your permission to enroll in that professor's specific section of PHYS 799 for the appropriate semester. If you plan to take PHYS 799 as internship credit, please just send me an email or meet with me to discuss this process.
As always, please reach out with any questions.
Kind Regards,
Elizabeth Hart-Baldridge, M.S. Ed.

Dear MSPQC Students:
Every year the department offers a variety of awards and scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students. These awards are made possible primarily by former students who have given back in remembrance of their time at Wisconsin. We hope that someday, you too will consider supporting future students in this way.
We are now soliciting applications from students for these awards for this year, the 2023-24 academic year.
To apply for awards, you must use WiSH - Wisconsin Scholarship Hub - in your student center: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://wisc.academicworks.com/users/sign_in__;…<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/wisc.academicworks.com/users/sign_in__;!…> .
The list of the physics department's awards, their descriptions, and eligibility requirements can be found at http://www.physics.wisc.edu/awards, but you don't need to decide which to apply for: you will automatically be matched with all awards for which you are eligible campus-wide - not just in Physics!
The deadline to submit an application is March 15, 2024.
We don't ask for much:
* statement of purpose (~1 page)
* CV/resume
* support letter from a faculty/staff/mentor (~0.50-1 page).
All Best,
Elizabeth Hart-Baldridge, M.S. Ed.

Dear Physics Graduate Students and Postdocs,
The Wisconsin School of Business is offering the Morgridge Entrepreneurial Boot Camp<https://business.wisc.edu/entrepreneurship/morgridge-entrepreneurial-bootca…> (MEB) from June 3-7, 2024. This program allows UW graduate students and postdocs in STEM and other fields to learn substantial theory and tools about technology entrepreneurship. This is a week-long total immersion, integrated experience that has consistently received top reviews from the participants.
The application<https://buswisc.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2fXCmhzS7KcSt7g> deadline is Thursday, March 7. Due to generous gifts to honor program sponsors John & Tashia Morgridge, the program is offered at no cost to the participants, but enrollment is limited. Please mention my name (Katerina Moloni) as a reference in your application.
Thank you,
Katerina

Dear MSPQC Students:
If you are planning to take PHYS 707, Quantum Computing Lab (4) in summer, you will want to note this course will run May 28 ,2024 - August 8, 2024.
The program has been working to further develop the lab course to best meet the needs and goals of MSPQC students, and based on feedback from those who have completed the course, we believe extending the lab beyond 8 weeks will positively impact student learning and the overall MSPQC student experience.
Please reach out to me directly if you have any questions about taking this course in summer (or fall) and/or if you think this change may affect your personal academic plan.
Have a wonderful weekend!
