Internship Opportunities in Quantum Science and Engineering Quantum information science and engineering uses aspects of quantum physics to develop revolutionary approaches for information processing that includes quantum computation, quantum communication, quantum simulation and quantum sensing. These are rapidly developing fields with recent discoveries and breakthroughs.
The NSF-funded Quantum Leap Challenge Institute, Hybrid Quantum Architectures and Networks (HQAN) program at the University of Illinois, in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin and the University of Chicago, industry, national laboratories, and other research institutions is developing multiple research approaches, integrating expertise from physics, materials science, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.
The growing field of quantum science and engineering bridges quantum science and conventional engineering. In a quantum system, the qubits themselves are simple, but fine-tuning a system surrounding them is an immense challenge. There is need to engineer the control systems — things like lasers, voltages, and radio frequency signals.
Check out some of the internship opportunities to gain experience and become a part of the growing quantum ecosystem.
