Hello MSPQC Students!
I am forwarding this exciting opportunity that is happening today at 3 PM Eastern (2 PM Central):
Invitation to the Quantum Industry Human Resources Panel Discussion organized by the QED-C Workforce Development TAC.
Reminder that tomorrow Tuesday July 20 @3pm Eastern we're organizing a discussion with a Quantum Industry Human Resources Panel via Zoom.
The link is: https://sri.zoomgov.com/j/1608914321 (and you're invited). Moderator: QED-C Executive Director Celia Merzbacher.
The purpose is to provide industry perspectives on hiring for QIST roles and to target prospective job candidates in the quantum industry.
This will be a formal needs discussion panel that includes HR/Hiring Managers from startup, small, medium, and large companies across the quantum supply chain.
The Workforce TAC have developed an initial list of questions and shared it with the panelists. Some of these questions are:
1. What quantum industry programs and opportunities exist currently for which job seekers can apply?
2. What job skills do you see as the most needed skills for the next one to five years in the quantum industry?
3. What are your company's biggest needs in terms of QIST skills?
4. What are the biggest obstacles to hiring in the marketplace? How can QED-C help overcome these obstacles?
5. Is there a quantum talent gap? If so, how can that gap be closed?
Have confirmed their participation: Tim Kroecker (AFRL), Carol Hawk (DOE), Herman Collins (StrategicQC), Denise Ruffner (IonQ), Bradley Holt (IBM) and Luke Mauritsen (Montana Instruments).
We hope to see you tomorrow Tue @3pm Eastern at the URL above. Please bring your own questions and you will be able to ask the panelists directly!
Sincerely,
Adrian German
