I am eager to participate in this innovative program, both to enhance my computational knowledge and practical skills and to actively contribute to the CMS experiment. My strong preference is to continue working with Dr. Tulika Bose on GPU-based reconstruction and workflow, as I spent last summer investigating the feasibility of porting the egamma reconstruction code to run on GPUs. My efforts so far have focused on implementation of CUDA kernels into various parts of the egamma reconstruction code. The purpose of writing portions of the egamma reconstruction code to run on GPUs is to speed up reconstruction of the ever-increasing number of particles being produced by collisions at the LHC. By further developing my GPU programming skills within this program I hope to make a significant contribution to the CMS experiment and bolster my ability to contribute to other physics projects in my career.
