Hello!
I (Elise) am very interested in this traineeship. I have really wanted to have training in computer science and computational HEP to help me with research and to gain a better understanding of the challenges HEP faces along with how to deal with them. I also am also generally interested in the development of tools that will help us do analysis efficiently and faster that can support the expected large volumes of data from future experiments/upgrades. I also want to be able to better understand some of the software like CMSSW and feel confident enough to contribute to projects that require more skills in computer science.
One of my projects is the development of an analysis facility at Fermilab. I provide feedback on user experience from the perspective of a physicist and will be working on the documentation for the facility. As such, the R&D project I would be excited to work on is "Services and Tools for Analysis Facilities for the HL-LHC" with Dr. Tulika Bose. This is incredibly important as we try to move forward with more data and I think it is a very interesting side of HEP that isn't strictly analysis.
Thank you! Elise Chavez
